FAQ

Do I need to be a good writer to write for the Vault?

NO! We get this question a lot. We have a team of editors to help in the writing process. If your writing ability holds you back from expressing your opinions you have no need to worry.

Does The Vault only deal with opinion pieces?

The purpose of The Vault is to give McMaster students a place to where their ideas on media. As a result, we want our content to be personal and share a point of view. This can take the form of opinions pieces, analyses, reactions, predictions, and even news pieces and summaries, so far as there is a personal component to the post.

Does The Vault only accept written form articles?

Our current team we have at The Vault Publication tend to focus on written form content, but we accept all multimedia content (So far as it’s about multimedia).

How do I submit an article to The Vault?

For those who simply wish to submit a single piece to The Vault, please go to the Submissions tab and follow the instructions. If you would like to write more than once for The Vault, please consider emailing us (thevaultpublication@gmail.com) to join The Vault Publication as an author.

What does it mean to be a member of The Vault Publication? What does the club do?

The Vault Publication is a registered McMaster University club that manages the website. Members consist of our team of authors, as well as editors and the editor-in-chief. Being an author with The Vault Publication does not mean you are required to write or submit any content; you will neve be forced to write for the site. Being a member of the club requires only 3 things:

  1. You must attend a majority of club meetings.
  2. You must come to said meetings having read some of the latest articles to give feedback to those who wrote them.
  3. When you sign up to produce content for the website, you must keep your word.

Outside of managing and writing for the website, The Vault Publication team engages in weekly discussion sessions, holds events and watches/plays/reads media together. In this sense we are both a book club, a website, and a recreational club to share your hobbies/fandoms with like-minded people.

What if I want to write about something other than movies, comics, video games, music, manga, anime and television (MCGMMAT)?

The list above is not exhaustive. If you have an idea for an article but don’t know if it would belong on The Vault, send us an email.

Can I write for The Vault even if I don’t go to McMaster University?

We accept submissions from anyone, but you cannot become a member of The Vault Publication team.
